lyrics

oh, Bonny Portmore,
I am sorry for to see
the woeful destruction
of your Ornament Tree
you stood on these shores
for many's the long day
'til the long boats of Antrim
came to float you away

oh, Bonny Portmore,
you shine where you stand
and the more I think on you,
the more I think long.
but if I had you now
as I had you before
the Lord of old England
could not purchase Portmore

oh, the birds in the forest,
they bitterly weep,
crying, "Where can I shelter
and where can I sleep?"
the oak and the ash
have all been cut down
and the walls of Bonny Portmore
are fell to the ground.

oh, Bonny Portmore,
I am sorry for to see
the woeful destruction
of your Ornament Tree

about

TRÚ

The trú was a mythological trio of poet-musicians in ancient Ulster. They were revered throughout Ireland, some believing their songs and stories came to them from the future. Others maintained that the trú were possessed by spirits during performance. As such, they were considered gatekeepers to the Otherworld.

New album 'Eternity Near' out September 8th.
